What Makes A Diet A Celebrity Diet?
Celebrity diets usually have some kind of
gimmick such as eating the same fruit at every meal, or drinking a
special drink. They all are associated with a celebrity that has
been successful at maintaining a trim figure or has lost a
significant amount of weight.
People generally refer to a diet as a "celebrity diet", if it is
highly recommended by Hollywood stars, singers, or other
celebrities of notoriety. Most celebrity diets are low in
carbohydrates and calories and promise that you will lose weight
fast.
Celebrity diets usually have some kind of gimmick such as eating
the same fruit at every meal, or drinking a special drink. They all
are associated with a celebrity that has been successful at
maintaining a trim figure or has lost a significant amount of
weight.
The problem with celebrity diets is that they tend to make you
feel fatigued and in a weakened state. Those that encourage a
high-fat diet can even encourage the individual to eat a high-fat
diet and thus increase their risk for heart disease.
Some celebrity diets can even cause serious health risks such as
Beyonce's Maple Syrup Diet that involved eating no food and only
consuming a beverage made from lemons, maple syrup and cayenne
pepper for 10 days. You may see a dramatic weight loss, but you may
also see death's door. A crash diet like this can also put your
body into starvation mode where the metabolism slows way down and
it starts to store fat in response to the starvation that it thinks
it is in the midst of.
There are some celebrities that have actually made their
fortunes promoting their celebrity diets such as Suzanne Somers and
her multimillion-dollar business based around her Somersizing
diet.
Jennifer Aniston of “Friends” followed the 40-30-30 diet also
known as the Zone Diet. She lost 30 pounds on the diet. The Zone
diet has been one of the most popular diet search terms for the
last 4 or 5 years. Dr. Barry Zone wrote the dietary book, The Zone
and it was published in June of 1995. It has sold over 2,000,000
hardcover copies and has been a #1 best seller on the New York
Times book list. He wrote a 2nd book called, Mastering the Zone,
which was published in 1997. It too became a New York Times best
seller. He has written several other dietary books since then. Part
of what makes a diet a “celebrity diet” is the following the diet
has because of what celebrities are using it. Jennifer Aniston is
perhaps the most popular of the celebrities that is on the Zone
diet.
The Atkins Diet is another diet that has been endorsed by
celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Minnie Driver. The Atkins
diet has been equally popular with men and women. It has been very
popular with those in the modeling industry and those in the
entertainment industry. On the Atkins diet you are restricted from
eating potatoes, fruit, rice, pasta, and bread and from drinking
beverages that contain caffeine or alcohol.
Individuals will embark on a diet simply because they heard or
read about a certain celebrity being on the diet. Many fans for
instance wondered about which diet Jessica Simpson used to get
ready for her "Dukes of Hazzard" movie. The latest word is that the
diet she used was the 5 factor diet. According to Us Weekly, the 5
factor diet is the diet that's changing Hollywood. The diet is
linked to other Hollywood celebrities like Alicia Keys, Eva Mendes,
Kanye West, and John Mayer all Grammy Award winners.
