How To Plan A Home Fitness Program

You have decided that you want to get fit and have chosen to exercise at home using home exercise equipment. Now, you need to decide how to plan your home exercise program so that you can reach your fitness goals. When deciding on a home fitness program you need to discover what fitness exercises are included in each fitness program you look into. You then match the fitness programs to your fitness goals. What do you wish to achieve in your fitness program? Are you looking to improve your coordination, your balance, or your strength? Are you looking to increase your agility and speed? Are you looking to do all of these things?

Strength training requires a variety of movements that challenge each muscle to build up the amount of force each muscle can put out at any one given time. A fitness program that uses the concept called "muscle confusion" is helpful in strength training because your body is forced to do different movement constantly, which eliminates the "plateau effect" in training.

Endurance training involves how long a muscle can exert force before it becomes tired and weakens. This involves a series of repetitive movements that increase the amount of energy produced by your body. Endurance training also improves your cardiovascular system as you lose weight.

Flexibility training improves the extent of motion each joint in your body can move. Flexibility programs usually involve stretches that challenge each joint and muscle so that it moves more effectively.

Exercises that improve your cardiovascular and respiratory systems will increase your fitness level and involve holding your heart rate at a target rate for at least 30 minutes each day. Cardiovascular and respiratory endurance training should be done at least 3 times a week to get maximum benefit from the fitness training. An effective cardiovascular and respiratory endurance program will improve the quality of your muscles, your heart and your lungs while also giving your better flexibility and an overall improved body composition.

Choosing the correct home fitness program will depend on how much money you have to spend on equipment, how much time you have to devote to exercising and the space you have not only for the equipment but for storage as well. All these things plus your fitness goals should be considered when deciding on a fitness program. It may be beneficial to use a local fitness gym and test out the equipment they have there to find equipment you would be comfortable using in your home. Talk to a fitness instructor about what equipment would help you reach your fitness goals.
