During pregnancy common complaints that are addressed by osteopathy are upper backache and lower backache, buttock pain, sciatica, hamstring pain, foot ache, shoulder pain, chest pain, neck ache, headaches, and arm aches. There are plenty of postural changes that occur during pregnancy due to the increase in volume and weight that is distributed up front.  The center of gravity moves forward. This can cause the woman to experience a dull backache. Tendonitis can occur in the muscles of the lower back and upper spine and ribs.

After delivery of the baby the abdomen decreases in size and weight but the breasts usually double or triple in size putting new demands on the body and creating still more postural changes that can lead to aches and pains.

Common sports related injuries that have been addressed in osteopathic medicine are chronic neck pain; lower or upper back pain, chronic leg or arm pain, and knee injuries. It is possible to treat sports injuries without surgery.

Osteopathic treatment of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis has the purpose of improving stiffness and restoring joint mobility at the same time as reducing swelling and pain. Through osteopathy treatment it is often possible to decrease reliance on medications reducing the possible side effects of using these medications.

The process of being born is often a traumatic one in which a huge amount of stress can be placed on the small body. There is a large amount of contractile pressure being placed on the baby's body during the birth process. Common reasons why babies and young children are seen by osteopathy are infant colic, constant crying, reflux or regurgitation of stomach contents, misshapen head, sleep difficulties, constipation, feeding problems and for a normal post partum check up.

Young children and older children may also benefit from osteopathy for Glue ear, and musculoskeletal effects of asthma, for poor concentration, sinusitis, and for growing pains or sports injuries.
