Why do I hear a popping noise during
manipulations?
Certain techniques used may create a popping noise or sensation
but if this may be the case you will be informed of the possibility
of popping prior to the technique being applied. The popping sounds
generally occur during spinal manipulations.

Non musculoskeletal complaints that are seen at osteopathic medicine clinics are anxiety, asthma, babies and childcare, constipation, cramping, digestive problems, fibrositis, glue ear, joint pain, local circulatory problems, menstrual pain, neuralgia, osteoarthritis and arthritic pain, pre and post operative care and support, pregnancy aches and pains, rheumatic pain and rheumatism, scoliosis, spasms, stress management and relief.
During pregnancy common complaints that are addressed by osteopathy are upper backache and lower backache, buttock pain, sciatica, hamstring pain, foot ache, shoulder pain, chest pain, neck ache, headaches, and arm aches. There are plenty of postural changes that occur during pregnancy due to the increase in volume and weight that is distributed up front.

How long will treatment last?
The length of the treatments are dependent on the severity of
the illness or injury, the general health of the individual and how
long the patient has been ill or for how long the patient has had
the injury.
What is the difference between osteopathy and
chiropractor?
Individuals who practice osteopathy and chiropractor all are
required to have 5 years or more of training and both healthcare
fields are regulated by statute law. Basically the techniques
involved in osteopathy are gentler and more rhythmical in nature
and there is less of the spinal manipulation. Chiropractor does
tend to do a lot with spinal manipulation. Those who practice
osteopathy tend to work on a wider scope of the body and those who
do chiropractor deal mainly with the spine and the pelvis.
Is Osteopathy safe?
Those who practice osteopathic medicine do so only after at
least 5 years of training and are licensed to practice medicine and
surgery. Most techniques used are gentle and have the purpose of
aiding the body to heal with minimal intervention. The golden rule
is to do good and to do no harm.
Do I have to be referred for osteopathic
treatment?
General practice doctors can refer patients to osteopathic
medicine and those who practice osteopathic medicine (O.D.s) do
work with other medical professionals on occasion. Anyone at
anytime can schedule an appointment to be seen at an osteopathic
clinic with or without a referral from their medical doctor.
Do Insurance companies cover osteopathic
medicine?
Yes, most major insurance carriers will cover osteopathic
healthcare. It is best to check with your insurance company for
specifics on your coverage before scheduling an appointment.
